The Challenge
A global outdoor-apparel brand lacked a centralized view of performance.
Reporting relied on fragmented Excel files and manual consolidation across Business Central, e-commerce, and web analytics. This slowed decision-making, introduced errors, and made scaling new analyses difficult.
The team needed a modern data foundation that was fast to deploy and simple to operate with a small staff.
EFFORTS
Our Solutions
- Assessed current data flows, reports, and pain points; aligned scope and KPIs with leadership.
- Chose Microsoft Fabric to fit the client’s Microsoft stack (Power BI, Business Central) and minimize DevOps overhead.
- Set up Fabric workspaces (Dev/Test/Prod) with Git and deployment pipelines; defined security and governance.
- Built ingestion dataflows for priority sources into a Bronze layer; applied quality/standardization in Silver.
- Modeled a Gold star schema with Direct Lake and core DAX measures (sales, margin, product/date dimensions).
- Delivered 2–3 executive dashboards (e.g., Sales, Marketing Performance) and ran UAT with business users.
- Produced documentation and knowledge transfer; scheduled refreshes and handover to the internal team.
OUTCOMES
The Results
The client now has a single source of truth in Power BI using Direct Lake, replacing spreadsheet consolidation.
Automated pipelines and standardized data cut manual work and reduce errors, while executive dashboards give timely visibility into sales and marketing.
The integrated Fabric setup is easier to run with a lean team and provides a clear path to scale as data and use cases grow.
